History

The first worship service took place in the home of Herman and Mildred Rumpf with 43 persons in attendance.  For the following  2 ½ years, the church met in the 4-H building at the Wabash County Fair Grounds.

In 1966, 2 1/5 acres of land were purchased on the corner of Falls Avenue and U.S. 24 for the building of our present facility.  On November 5, 1967 the first worship service took place in the newly erected church building with 141 persons in attendance.

For nearly 45 years, Calvary Baptist Church has stood firmly upon the proclamation of the Word of God in Wabash County and beyond.  It is our hope and prayer that we remain faithful to God’s Word and that He would continue to use us for many years to come.

On February 4, 1965, a group of twenty-three believers, wishing to establish a strong biblical testimony in Wabash County met in the home of James and Neva Goff.  The result of that evening’s meeting was the organization of “The Calvary Baptist Church of Wabash.”  Amongst the more important decisions made at that time was the calling of Victor C. Stouffer to become the first pastor of this church fellowship.
